Newry Street Unite

With their Space & Place funding, the group will construct a new building and play park which means their programme of activities can run all year round, regardless of the weather.

Newry Street Unite Community Development was established in 2012 as a direct response to ever increasing levels of tension within the area; this being caused by anti-social behaviour, racism and sectarianism which has resulted in some people being forced to leave due to crime and/or the fear of crime.

They have been active in developing a range of community activities and programmes within the Newry Street area but given that there is no central community facility within the estates, such activities have been at the mercy of the weather.

With their Space & Place funding, the group will construct a new building and play park which means their programme of activities can run all year round, regardless of the weather.

This project will help children, teenagers, young adults, elderly people, the migrant community and ethnic minorities in the Newry Street area.
