Little Rascals Community Playgroup will replace their current premises with a new multi-functional facility - the Little Rascals Nurturing Families Centre.
Little Rascals is a community run charitable playgroup based in the rural area of Drumsurn, in Limavady. It is a cross-community playgroup who, through extensive community consultation, now seeks to expand the services it can offer within the community.
Their current premises is a run down, draughty portacabin which has no insulation or double glazing and is not fit for purpose. With the group struggling to cope with demand and running out of space, Space & Place funding has come along just in time to allow them to build a new multi-functional facility – the Little Rascals Nurturing Families Centre.
The new centre will provide a place where children will be cared for in a stimulating environment, where young people will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of programmes and activities and a space where parents and older people will have the opportunity to take part in classes, increasing skills, social connections and employability.
As well as connecting and empowering people within the community, the centre will act as a link to other community associations and schools in the area, who are all on board with Little Rascals Community Playgroup’s ‘Play to Grey’ ethos.
