Annadale Haywood Residents Association

The Annadale Haywood Residents Association are constructing a new community building that will serve to house and facilitate a wide range of activities and programmes.

The Annadale Haywood Residents Association deliver a wide range of educational, cultural and social programmes to meet the needs of residents from the ages of 1 to 90.

During 2012/13 the Association delivered a community garden project, spring and summer scheme programmes, a multicultural after schools programme, a youth club, a job club for training and employment and an older person’s project.

As well as this there have been garden parties, a Chinese new year celebration, counselling support for residents, a housing advice service and a range of training and development programmes.

For the past few years, all this activity has been planned out of a small flat, leased from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. This space is too small for the growing needs of the Association – being used for a youth club, job club, diversity projects, training and ethnic programmes – to name just a few.

With their Space & Place funding, the group are constructing a new community building that will serve to house and facilitate all the activities mentioned above, and more. This new building will allow access to services and help reduce antisocial behaviour in the area which includes a growing culture of alcohol and drugs among young people, as well as, racially and sectarian motivated crime.
